Backcountry Skiing

For those that are a little more adventurous, the backcountry opportunities offered by the Cariboo Mountains are unparalleled.

While some locations will require a sled to access, others can be reached on your own steam – whether you’re skinning or snowshoeing, fresh pow awaits! The Cariboo Ski Touring Club has all the info you need for accessing the backcountry in the Wells/Barkerville area. To get into the zones east of Williams Lake and 100 Mile, local beta is the way to go – stop by Red Shreds Bike and Board Shed and hook up with a crew heading out. The backcountry is always epic, and always amazing. It’s also serious business – avalanches are always a possibility, so keep an eye on conditions, bring your avi gear and, most importantly, know how to use it!
